Comments: Where do i start?James Leroy....a very gifted singer song writer.Once you hear that voice, you're hooked. Finding this site brought fond memories as i listend to his music again.Reading his bio.....and insights and reflections from those who were part of his all too short life was most enlightening.
I remember a Toronto DJ,Mike Cooper of CFTR(then)recalling his memories of James after playing "Touch of Magic". In fact, that's the first time i knew that he had died.I was shocked and deeply saddened. That voice will now be forever silent. The talent, the man. Rest in Peace,James.Your voice is now amongst HIS angels.

Comments: Great site, thank you so much. Like many people who signed this book, I feel that Canadian music in the 70s and early 80s was some of the best ever. James Leroy's songs were no exception. Hearing "You Look Good in Denim" and "Touch of Magic" brings me back to my childhood with fond memories. I tried looking him up on Wikipedia but was surprised to see he doesn't have page. If anyone reading this is so enclined to do one, it would only help spread the great memories of his wonderful music.

Comments: Great site! Brings back memories of George White's Melody Inn music store where as a teenager I worked with Gary Comeau. This was the beginning for the band that would become Denim. In the back of the store was a practice area where James crafted the songs that appear on the album. With him were Gary, Val Tuck and members of the band Jumbo; as a 16 year old I just watched and listened in awe. In return for hanging around I became somewhat of a "gopher" - go for snacks, go for cigarettes.
I was present at their first real recording session in Montreal where they recorded tracks for Treble Clef ads with Harvey Glatt. The trip back to Ottawa was interrupted by an ice storm and the whole band ( with me still hanging around) staying in a motel room in Rigeau, QC.
Precious memories, cherished music. Rock and Roll heaven is richer with Jimmy.

Comments: I have to admit even though I fondly remember all of James`s songs growing up in Paris Ontario, I did not know his history. I rem Major Hooples boarding house and denim and always thought he had a great voice but had no idea it was all James.
so sorry to hear about his passing even though it was so long ago.....very nice tribute to an often over looked legend ,thank you for the site

Comments: Thanks for creating this site. One of my favourite songs from the 70's. Thanks for creating this site out of tribute to James. I often wondered what happened to him. So sad that he died so very young.
